Abstract

Two layer structures have been investigated for absorbing light in the ultraviolet (UV) spectral range from 200 nm to 400 nm. A narrow-band near perfect light absorber is demonstrated which is composed of ultra-thin metal-dielectric-metal films. The absorber is designed and fabricated in the visible frequency region from 400 nm to 700 nm wavelength. By tuning the cavity layer thickness, spectral selective near perfect light absorption was achieved. In a additional narrow band transmission filter is designed and fabricated at the visible range using four-layer structures.
