Abstract
This research investigated the hypergolic reaction that occurs between dimethylpiperazines with red fuming nitric acid. An advanced laser diagnostic system was designed previously to measure chemical delay times. This equipment was utilized to study the effects of temperature, fuel to oxidizer ratio, the presence of dinitrogen tetroxide in the oxidizer and the presence of methanol in the fuel. A comparison was made with dimethylpiperazine isomers and derivatives of hydrazine previously studied.
